ON Friday 11th August a new Indian Restaurant “Bawarchi” opened in Augusta Village, Augustine Heights.
The then Acting Mayor of Ipswich, Paul Tully did the honours of officially declaring the restaurant open.
MC for the formal proceedings, Jim Varghese congratulated owner Manish Patel on his expansion in this area. He also spoke on the upcoming Power of Peace festival that will be held on 29 October (click here for detail on Power of Peace Festival).
Hemant Naik of Mahatma Gandhi memorial committee also congratulated owner Manish Patel, and he disclosed the fact that Manish Patel was chosen as the personal chef for Prime Minister Narendra Modi during if visit to Brisbane.
The official opening dinner had a good representation of Indian Community leaders and organisations, including, FICQ, GOPIO, Vedanta Society, Queensland Multicultural Council, AIBC and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial committee amongst many.
Traditional Indian dishes were served on the occasion of the official opening; funds raised on the night went to Mahatma Gandhi memorial committee for repairs to Gandhi statue at Roma Street Parkland.
