SHREE Vishnu Maya Mandir performed Navgraha Maha Yagna on the 17 May. Dharam Guru Acharya Pt. Ram Harash Tripathi Ji performed the yagna together with other priests and all devotees that were present. It was a very auspicious occasion for all the devotees and a very fruitful yagna for one and all. Programme commenced with Navgraha Maha Yagna followed by Bhajans, Aarti and Mahaprasad.
The significance of yagna is as follows – The term Navgraha denotes the nine celestial bodies which are central to astrological calculations (and beliefs) (and not the nine planets as it is frequently erroneously translated).
The Sun, the moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and two shadow planets Rahu and Ketu constitute the Navgrahas. The nine grahas or planets in our horoscope control our karma, our desires and their outcomes. Each of these nine planets exerts an influence on our lives, which is called dasa and it can be
known from ones horoscope. Navgraha puja and yagna is undertaken to reduce the negative effects and improve the positive energies related to a person.
Describing the significance of worshipping Navgrahas, Lord Vishnu told Rudra, “The one who worships the Navgraha with appropriate rituals attains all the four purusharth (objectives of man’s life”) – Dharma, Artha, Kaam and Moksha.
