In the Poorvanga, Smt Pamela Sarkar, with her daughter Paean, presents semi-classical vocal music including Ravindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti and Bhajans
Smt. Pamela Sarkar started learning classical music at the age of eight in Benaras and Lucknow gharana style. She developed her performing skills with Shri Aguru Sarkar, a disciple of Ustad Sagiruddin Khan. Smt Pamela Sarkar holds a diploma in Nazrul Geeti and Classical Vocal. Paean Sarkar, duaghter of Smt Pamela, studied basic Carnatic classical music under Shri Dilip Rajan in Hyderabad, India. She has now switched over to Hindustani vocal music under the guidance of her mother.
Smt. Shrabani Choudhury started learning sitar at an early age of seven. Shrabani learnt Sitar from her Guru Pandit Soumitra Lahiri of Vishnupur Gharana who has performed in almost all leading classical music conferences in India and abroad with prestigious awards. Since her first solo performance at the age of 15, Shrabani has been performing on a number of occasions in India and in Australia. She has been a regular performer in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. She has participated several times in the BEMAC, Roma Street Parkland and Swara Mohini events. The classical music that Shrabani plays comes out of heart & soul like all great music and fills the mind of audience with a sense of peace, joy and happiness.
