Understanding Domestic and Family Violence Across Migrant and Refugee Communities

The Workshop is to build capacity and sector development workshop for local service providers to enhance their capacity to engage and respond to migrant and refugee families. Funds raised will go towards Queensland first CALD specific women’s DV refuge Sakina.

The workshop will cover the following topics;

  • Cultural, Ethnicity, Religious factors related to Domestic and Family Violence
  • Understanding gender roles & traditions within Indian communities
  • Cultural Sensitive Practice
  • Risk Assessment & Safety Planning

Who should attend:

Social workers, police officers, DV Shelter staff, health staff, teachers, child welfare professionals and community members.
