THE members of Fiji Senior Citizens Assn of Qld together with the communities of diverse cultural background including Aboriginal Uncle and Aunties celebrated Seniors Week and also Multicultural Month at our centre the Multicultural Hub at Annerley. Over 90 people from diverse communities attended the event.
The celebration commenced with welcome to Country by Aunty Peggy Tidyman. Mark Bailey MP, Cr Ian McKenzie and Robin Zakhrov from MAQ spoke at the event. Also there was entertainment and performances by different community groups followed by lunch.
We Queenslanders can be proud of its rich multicultural heritage encompassing the tradition of indigenous and diverse cultures who have come from many regions of the world.
Mr Surendra Prasad, President of FSCAQ said that celebrations such as this provides opportunities for diverse communities to express their thanks and gratitude the positive multicultural environment to grow in peace and harmony that Queensland has given us. It also provide us an occasion to celebrate the richness that the diverse communities bring to our State.
We thank the support from Queensland Government, Lord Mayor’s Suburban Initiative Funds and Cr Ian McKenzie which made it possible for our Association to organise this celebration.
