Brisbane City Council is helping Boondall business owners strengthen connections and boost business as part of the Lord Mayor’s Business Forum at Iceworld on November 8.
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said as Australia’s New World City, Council supported businesses of all sizes and the free forum was part of Brisbane’s commitment to build the local economy.
“This small business forum aims to connect local business owners with key industry experts to share valuable industry knowledge and experience,” Cr Quirk said.
“Participants will have the chance to hear from Conweigh Founder and CEO James Oliver and Brisbane’s Chief Digital Officer Cat Matson, who will share their insights on the challenges or taking a new product to market and networking via social media to build your business.
“Council staff will also be on hand to help participants with a range of business enquiries about planning, permits and licensing needs.
“Attendees will also have the opportunity to win a one-hour session with digital strategist Cat Matson to receive feedback on implementing or advancing their digital strategy.”
The Lord Mayor’s Small Business Forums have attracted more than 2,900 attendees since launching in November 2012 and continue to provide a knowledge-sharing network among the local business community.
Cr Quirk said Council’s business initiatives were vital not just for stimulating Brisbane’s economic development but for bringing the business community together and supporting the growth of emerging business leaders.
“Supporting small business and nurturing innovations means a strong economy with more jobs right across Brisbane,” he said.
“Whether local business owners are interested in building their business network or learning new ways to enhance their business to meet the needs of today’s digital economy, the forums are designed to cater to a range of small business.
“These initiatives are an important part of building Brisbane’s reputation as a digital city, and I encourage local business owners to attend.”
