WAMCI 2026 Multicultural Festival Celebrates Cultural Diversity
Brisbane, 22 August 2026 — The 2026 WAMCI Multicultural Festival – Cultural Exchange Opening Ceremony was successfully held on Saturday at the Queensland Taiwan Centre, bringing together government representatives, community leaders, cultural organisations, artists, performers and community members.
Hosted by World Arts & Multi-Culture Inc. (WAMCI), the event celebrated Queensland’s multicultural community through cultural performances, art, cultural displays and community presentations.
The program featured an energetic FASCA BNE drumming performance, a Colombian harp solo, cultural presentations from the Philippines, Fiji and Taiwan, and a special performance by ATIA the Taiwanese Indigenous dance group. A major highlight was the opening of the “STORIES” Art Exhibition, featuring four artists representing Australia, Taiwan, Japan and Brazil — Jeanette Stok, Amy Chen, Yoshi Hughes and Maria da Silva. The artists shared their creative stories through their artworks and artist talks.Guests also enjoyed cultural displays representing Japan, Bangladesh, ECCQ, Ukraine, Poland, Taiwan and Romania, providing an opportunity to learn more about the traditions and cultures of participating communities.
WAMCI President Susan Yang said the Cultural Exchange demonstrated the importance of bringing people together to share cultures, stories and experiences, while building friendships and stronger multicultural communities.
